Shabby Chic!
December 29th, 2008Shabby chic is a form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their age and signs of wear and tear or new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique
Vintage inspired Shabby Chic furniture is all the rage at the moment and can be easily applied to your dolls house. If you have any odd bits of old furniture lying around, why not create this unique style by painting old chairs, tables, chests, mirror frames etc with an off white emulsion and when dry apply a wood stain to create a distressed look, getting it into all the grooves and detail, wipe over with a dry cloth allowing paint to show through.
For a slightly more intense finish use sandpaper to deepen the distressed finish.
For a French Shabby Chic style why not try applying a floral stencil pattern to wardrobe doors, dressing screens or headboards.
