Did You Ask Jackie?

March 20th, 2009

askjackieA lot of our friends who have joined us along this dolls’ house path  have sent  lovely messages of congratulations and some interesting product ideas for the team to mull over.

We’ve also had questions for Jackie on how she started in the business, has she ever had her own dolls’ house (and if so does she still have it) and how she thinks The Dolls House Emporium can continue on the same route for the next 30 years. All the answers will be in our May brochure, to mark the month that The Dolls House Emporium officially began.

But before we get to May, (which is after all still a long way off) we want to take the opportunity to thank all our customers for your kind words on our 30th Anniversary and for your past, present and future custom. So far, it’s been an enlightening and exciting adventure, long may it continue and long may you be along with us for the ride!

I wonder if I win the prize for owning a ‘Classic’ doll’s house kit the longest without completion! I bought it when my daughter was at Keele University and we were going up to collect her for the vacation. She left there in 1984/5! It must therefore have been in 1982/3 as it was bought some time before she left. We were going up an a Sunday and were told that if no one was there we could ask an adjacent craftsman who would open up the workshop and allow us to collect it! This was when your workshop was on the top of a hill and consisted of one unit in what appeared to be a ‘Craft Village’.
My kit has wooden window frames in four separate pieces for each window! The stairs were made up of several small ‘blocks’ which had to be stuck on the ‘base’ separately’. My new puppy decided that these pieces were ideal for chewing and promptly destroyed one!!! I have put it together partly but have been waiting for over 24 years for my husband to finish of the recesses for the window frames! (They are rounded at each corner and will not take the square frames) The clear plastic with the windows printed on it is now slightly yellow with age!!! BUT! One day I will finish it!!!
p.s. That puppy, sadly, died at seven months but I got another rescue puppy a year later, who died in 1999 aged nearly seventeen years!
