Dress the Bride Competition – Rebecca Smith’s Entry
June 29th, 2010Our Design a Wedding Dress competition was so popular that we thought we would show you a few more of our favourites.
Rebecca Smith’s simple yet elegant design for a wedding dress, with those beautiful added touches, really stood out.
“I wanted to design a dress that was plain, but elegant with a beautiful long train. I chose a deep cream material, which was finished off with small, clear beads, pearls and sequins – not too fussy, but just enough to add that all important sparkle!
I made the skirt first before adding an elegant train. I then designed and created the bodice to attach to the skirt and the train. I sewed small clear beads around the neckline of the dress and sequins around the hem. I also added a tiny cream rose, together with two pearls, to the back of the dress.
The veil is made from a cream voile which I attached to the bride’s hair before adding a tiara, which was made from the same clear beads and pearls on the dress, and threaded onto a fine wire. The finishing touch is the beautiful bouquet of small pink flowers, bound together with a narrow ribbon and tied to the bride’s hand. She is also wearing a small pearl engagement ring.
