Upstairs Downstairs

January 8th, 2011

Many of you may have seen the beautiful and stylish new version of “Upstairs, Downstairs” which was on our screens over the Christmas period.  You may also have noticed that the home of the distinguished Sir Hallam Holland and his wife Lady Agnes was 165 Eaton Place – a stunning Regency-styled building identical to our very own miniature Eaton Square!

Set in 1936 to a back drop of social change and movement and the impending Second World War, 165 Eaton Place is an elegant escape for the family that live “Upstairs” and a means of paying the bills for those “Downstairs”.  Although the series is set in the early 1930’s, the elegant, four-storey Regency building really sets the tone and, more importantly to us, makes the perfect miniature project!

We’re sure you can recreate the style and beauty of 165 Eaton Place from “Upstairs, Downstairs” in your own dolls’ house.  A beautiful candelabra (7042) will add an elegant light to any room, whilst the classical working grandfather clock (2747) is sure to impress all of your visitors – and no high society house is complete without its own library.  Create yours with the stunning red striped Louis XVI sofa (5666) and a large bookcase (6735) for all those academic text books and romance novels.

Whether you take your inspiration from “Upstairs, Downstairs” or “Downton Abbey”, let us know how you get on and please do send us pictures of your creations.
