A Mini Day Out

July 23rd, 2011

Now that the school holidays are almost here, your thoughts are probably turning to days out for all the family.  And for lovers of all things miniature, what better destination than one of the numerous miniature villages to be found around the country?

Just a few worthy of note are the miniature village of Bourton-on-the-Water in Gloucesteshire and Bekonscot in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire which dates back to the 1920s and is considered to be the grandfather of miniature villages.  On the east coast you can find Merrivale in Great Yarmouth, whilst in the south west, there is Wimbourne model town in Dorset.  All have their own special features – from model railways and trams to miniature replicas of Buckingham Palace and Ascot Racecourse – and all embrace the magic of a world in miniature.

To find somewhere local to you, why not check out the internet and if you have anywhere to recommend to fellow miniature enthusiasts, then please let everyone know via the forum here.
