Mini’s anniversary

September 3rd, 2011

In our opinion small is beautiful and we just love everything miniature.

So we could hardly let the anniversary of the ground-breaking Mini car go by without acknowledging such a revolutionary example of the beauty of thinking small.

Last week, the Mini turned 52, August 26th 1959 is the date the very first Mini rolled off the production line.  Designed by Sir Alec Issigonis, the Mini rapidly became a fashion icon in the Sixties driven by such noted celebrities as Peter Sellers and John Lennon and memorably appearing the film ‘The Italian Job’ starring Michael Caine.  And even today the Mini continues to be an amazing concept and is just as popular thanks to the inspired BMW redesign.

So here’s to all things Mini but we think a Dinky Toys version would look better parked outside your dolls’ house.
