Oriental dolls’ house – what would you turn it into?

September 7th, 2011

Do you go weak at the knees for a true oriental design masterpiece?

This stunning new miniature has gone on show – and for sale - in the Dolls’ House Emporium shop at Ripley in Derbyshire.

It is one of a kind. Just imagine if you had it in your home…

The possibilities are endless. Perhaps a Japanese restaurant, or the home of a rich businessman. It might even form part of a movie set for your miniature street, maybe setting your imagination alight for a new sequel to the hit Kill Bill series!

It’s the latest one-off crafted by in-house builder Elvyn Almonte, and is available to buy – but you might have to move quickly as his last bespoke piece was snapped up in days!

This masterpiece took around 100 hours to complete and measures 50cm by 60cm for the base at its widest part, with the roof apex reaching 58cm from the base.

The tiled upper floor was finished with brickwork from the back of a discontinued cottage while the unique roof design was simply cut, sanded and stained from plywood. Ceilings and the rear wall boast the classic paper wall design as decoration and the lower level captures a traditional far eastern tree design and the whole building is the regular 1:12 scale.

Built and lit, it is retailing at £295. There is only one like this, so the piece is unique.

It’s well worth a visit to the Dolls House Emporium shop in Ripley, Derbyshire, which showcases the complete range of over 30 dolls’ houses and they are all fully built, decorated, lit and furnished.

The 200sqm outlet provides numerous ideas and inspiration, has free parking, facilities for the disabled and complimentary tea and coffee.

You can call the shop directly on 01773 514413.
If you want to find it by satnav, the postcode is DE5 3YD.

  1. I love this – I’ve been looking for a japanese dolls house kit for years- but can’t afford this. I did think that perhaps Ocean Drive could be decorated as a japanese house – and was going to have a go – I can use this house as inspiration. Where can you get dolls that fit? Have the Dolls HOuse Emporium thought about doing some “foreign” house kits?
