Creative Competition 2011 – Third place revealed!
September 14th, 2011We know you’ve all been waiting patiently, ok and some not so patiently, to see the results of this year’s Creative Competition. Thanks to the wonders of the internet we’re able to show them to you so much earlier than years gone past when they would only have appeared in the November special offers brochures. So here we go, announcing the 2011 Dolls House Emporium Creative Competition winners. Beginning in reverse order with …
… Cub and Brownie leader Claire Wright, from Oxfordshire, who wins £200 of vouchers for being awarded third prize spot for her depiction of “1st Camp”.
It is based on her recent experience of a real camp.
“It is made to look as realistic as the camp we’ve just been on,” she says.
Both pavilions have been covered in wood slats to make it look more like a shed, and the shower block is covered by proper asphalt to make it waterproof and they were painted brown and rubbed down with sand paper to achieve the older, used look.
The tent was made out of green material with a zip for opening and closing, while the flagpole uses a decorated handkerchief for the Union Flag.
Claire explains: “My project is about your first camp experience, as being a Cub and Brownie leader and recently going on a weekend camp, I wanted to recreate the camp we’ve just been on.”
Extra touches include PVC material for shower curtains, floor tiles rubbed with newspaper to make then grubby and real wooden worktops.
The challenge for competitors was to make use of the Garden Pavilion kit , in a contest which gave entrants six months to complete their project and this year we were lucky enough to have over 50 entries from all over the world! Stay tuned for the rest of the week for the count down to continue!
