Dolls’ house transformed into fairytale cottage

September 23rd, 2011

“Throughout my childhood I remember the proverbial fairytale cottage featuring in many stories I read.

“Sometimes it was a place of refuge, at other times a source of danger – an obstacle that needed to be overcome before our hero can continue their journey.”

So says Lucy Newman, from Nuneaton in the Midlands, who built her own fairytale cottage for the Dolls House Emporium Creative Competition 2011.

Dolls House Emporium creative competition entry from Lucy Newman

As with all the entries, she started off with the Garden Pavilion kit, which can be found in our free catalogue.

Once transformed, however, she shows how the occupier has been busy at the table before they left, using contents out of strange jars, leaving hurriedly without clearing them away. It is a cure? Or a potion?

Little details like clean windows reveal how the place is inhabited, while pumpkins in the garden show the season is autumn.

But who lives in a house like this? Is it friend or foe? As Lucy says, it’s best left to your imagination!

Here’s information on this year’s winners.

Come back next week to see more from the talented folk who entered this year!
