Socialite attributes his success to dolls’ houses!

December 30th, 2011

Socialite Nicky Haslam may be best known for rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous – but he has also enjoyed a long career as an interior designer.

And it’s his success in this field which he attributes to playing with dolls’ houses!

The son of William Haslam and Diamond Ponsonby, Nicky was brought up in a 17th Century country house, Great Hundridge Manor.

At the age of seven, he contracted polio and spent three years in bed, during which time he took up rearranging dolls’ house furniture.

According to a recent article in the Daily Mail, it’s an activity that has stayed with him ever since.

So if you’re thinking of giving a child a dolls’ house this Christmas, who knows what it might inspire in them!
