Queen’s dolls’ house appears in ‘My Week with Marilyn’

January 30th, 2012

If you’ve already seen the recent film ‘My Week with Marilyn’, then you’ll know the world famous Queen Mary’s dolls’ house features prominently in one scene.

The film is based on a memoir about the making of the 1956 film ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’ when Marilyn Monroe came to England to star alongside Laurence Olivier.

At one point Marilyn pays a visit to Windsor Castle where she is invited to touch the famous dolls’ house.

A film about Marilyn Monroe can hardly be short of glamour but we’re sure the appearance of the Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House can’t fail to add a little more.

  1. I’m sorry to tell you that it is not the Queen’s dollshouse featured in the movie. It was not permitted to use her house and another one was built for the purpose of filming. It was made by The Dolls House Builder, from whom we’ve purchased it and it is now a prominent feature in my home.
