An art gallery in a dolls’ house

March 14th, 2012

Where else would you exhibit miniature artworks than in a miniature gallery?

Well that was the thinking of Stephanie Rond of Columbus, Ohio, who decided to convert a dolls’ house into an art gallery.

Miniatures are a huge thing in art,” Stephanie told the Columbus Alive website, “but I haven’t seen anyone do a gallery space.”

So having spotted a gap in the market, Stephanie promptly filled it with the S.Dot Gallery, a tastefully renovated dolls’ house with white walls and string lights.

Starting off with her own work, she now makes space for other artists to stage monthly exhibitions of their own miniature artwork.

This includes each artist selecting furniture to fit the mood they want to create.

People don’t necessarily buy the artwork to hang on the walls of their own dolls’ house but it would be amazing to have an original piece of art to decorate one’s own miniature interiors.

Perhaps someone will take up the idea in the UK and open their own miniature art gallery.
