Reuniting a dolls’ house with its original furniture
March 20th, 2012At a recent auction in Chippenham, Wiltshire, a splendid Victorian dolls’ house and miniature furniture were put under the hammer and sold to separate buyers.
Now the new owners of the furniture want to reunite it with the house.
Robert and Julia Hunt-Grubbe paid £2,600 for the collection of furniture which includes an exquisitely made four poster bed, piano, snooker table, tin bath and drawers.
“The workmanship on the furniture is quite brilliant,” Julia told the Wiltshire Times, “and I think it would be lovely for the house and the furniture to be together again.”
Husband Robert added that if he could find the house, he would be keen to put it and the furniture on display at Wiltshire Heritage Museum in Devizes.
Let’s hope Robert and Julia are successful in their quest and everyone is given a chance to see and enjoy a wonderful dolls’ house.
