Dolls’ house proves to be a popular exhibit

April 24th, 2012

Opened a year ago, the Cardiff Story Museum is dedicated to the city’s history and one of the most popular exhibits has proved to be a dolls’ house showing life in a typical Cardiff house through the ages.

The centrepiece of the museum’s History of the House exhibit, the dolls’ house reveals carefully created historical interiors.

It’s a scaled-down version of a typical house to be found on Cardiff’s famous Cathedral Road and, in keeping with the hands-on approach of the museum, it contains models that move when you press a button.

The house certainly caught the eye of the Duchess of Cornwall when she officially opened the museum last June and you can see her admiring it in a photograph featured on the Wales Online website.

Whether Camilla is a dolls’ house aficionado or not, we cannot say, but she must be more than familiar with the Queen Mary’s dolls’ house which belongs to her mother-in-law.
