Dolls’ house display entertains shoppers
May 4th, 2012Bracknell and District Dolls’ House Club have come up with a novel way of brightening up their local High Street – a dolls’ house display in an empty shop window.
Visitors to the Princess Square shopping centre have been entertained by a miniature fairground scene, complete with carousel and coconut shy, in the window of a vacated shop.
“We’ve had so much interest in it,” club member Anne Walden-Mills told the Bracknell News.
“It’s raising awareness of the club and to help keep the windows not looking vacant.”
The display, which is only a temporary installation, was the club’s own idea and they approached the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership who took them up on their offer.
It’s certainly an idea that could catch on, given that so many local shopping areas up and down the country have been blighted by the sight of empty shop windows.
So if you’re a member of a dolls’ house club, why not think about doing the same thing in your own area. It could be a small way of bringing the feelgood factor back to the High Street.
