Creative Competition winner 2012!

September 24th, 2012

At last we can reveal the big winner of £650 of Dolls House Emporium kit in the Creative Competition 2012.

We had some truly amazing entries so THANK YOU all for getting to grips with your Corner Shops to make it a contest to remember.

We’re very pleased to announce that this year’s winner is Jacqui Hiller, from West Glamorgan.

Jacqui’s used real-life inspiration for her fictional town of Hillsea and its Tourist Information Centre and Cliff Railway!

The attention to detail and imaginative use of The Corner Shop won her the accolade.

Jacqui says: “I knew I wanted to use both kits and convert it into some kind of British tourist attraction. Despite the usual unsettled summer weather ‘Staycations’ have become more popular in this climate of austerity. I also wanted to join in the celebration of being British with the Queen’s Jubilee and Olympics taking place this year.”

“Converting a shop to a cliff railway would take some thought and research.

“Although architectural inspiration came from Southend Cliff Lift and Dorchester Tourist Information Centre, a new British seaside resort needed to be created for the project … so I invented the little seaside town of Hillsea.”

Second place went to Susan Butcher, from Somerset, who wowed the judges with her French-inspired interiors of Home and Haven.

“I took my inspiration from my travels to France, I really like the French chic look of the many shops that I saw in this style.”

Third place this went to last year’s winner, Emma Metcalfe, from Mid-Glamorgan.

Her ‘Diamond Jubilee 1897’ is a well-worn Victorian pub, homely and welcoming for the locals!
