The Dolls House Emporium has new owners following the retirement of founder Jackie Lee this week.
Entrepreneur Jackie has stepped down as chairman and managing director of the company after setting it up 33 years ago.
The company, which will continue to be run as The Dolls House Emporium, is now owned by hobby sector retailer MyHobbyStore Retail Ltd, who plan to further develop the business.
Over 100 exclusive designs for houses, small projects, basements and conservatories have been a hit during that time and the company has won countless awards for superb customer service. Sales have expanded into Europe, Australia, the USA, Canada and most recently Russia.
Jackie said: “We have developed an exceptional team and systems delivering an outstanding customer experience, for which we have won numerous national awards.
“After almost 34 years I feel it’s time to step down. Whilst I’m sorry to be leaving, I’m also looking forward to having time to pursue other interests.”
Jackie is a grandmother of three, with a fourth grandchild on the way, and she enjoys horse riding and spending time in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. She was presented with a bespoke artisan-made 1:12 scale version of herself as a keepsake from staff!
There will continue to be a family element to the firm, with Jackie’s daughter Amy continuing to lead the friendly sales and customer service team that customers are so familiar with, and daughter Sophie running the product marketing department.
MyHobbyStore Retail Ltd runs a number of hobby websites, covering areas such as radio control supplies, model railways, die cast models, craft and other related hobby products. It has a sister company which publishes a range of hobby and craft magazines.
MyHobbyStore Retail Ltd chief executive Owen Davies said: “We are delighted to be acquiring Dolls House Emporium. It has an exceptional brand heritage and we look forward to growing the business and continuing its strong ethos to customer service. This acquisition will become part of our growing portfolio of ecommerce websites which service the hobby and craft markets.”
