Did you know there were some amazing 1:12 scale miniatures on display at a recent exhibition across the pond?
As reported in The LA Times, “There is a rather insane little world of people who make the most amazing replicas of real furniture”.
One item has 5,000 faux ceramic pieces attached to the roof!
The article explains that designers would cut corners, using fabric samples for curtains and carpet swatches for area rugs, although few expenses were spared. One spent an entire day stringing Swarovski crystals on miniature lighting fixtures, which are illuminated by LEDs.
The ten designer dolls’ houses featured, including a brownstone created by fashion designer Monique Lhuillier, have been sold at a silent auction.
