One man has taken his cue from the house his family grew up in, built over 100 years ago.
He has spent over $500 getting it just right – and is to hand the completed project over to his lucky granddaughter.
Scott Gordon, a carpenter, constructed the base of the dolls’ house when his own daughter was a child, more than 30 years ago. But she never got the completed model as it’s only just been finished – so it’s going direct to seven-year-old Toriana.
The house it is modelled on was built around 1900 in Milton, has been owned by his family for decades. Gordon’s mother lived there for 85 years, and his brother now owns the home.
Constructing the dollhouse brought back memories, including the 56 Christmases he’d spent in the life-size version of that living room, and the afternoons crawling through the attic with his siblings.
He told Nashoba Publishing Community News: “I have some very fond memories. It’s a beautiful house and I spent a lot of time there.”
