Feature House – October 2009 – Cumberland Castle

December 18th, 2009

cumberlandcastleGothic architecture flourished during the medieval period and was known at the time as “the French Style”. Evolving over many years from the very early Norman architecture, it is most familiar as the style of many of the great cathedrals, abbeys and castles across the United Kingdom. Cumberland Castle, with its strong vertical lines, ‘leaded’ arched windows, imposing stonework and heavy wooden doors, can be externally decorated and dressed to reflect the harsh surroundings of Bonnie Prince Charlie, or in a mellow stone finish found further south – perhaps with a more comfortable interior!

Cumberland Castle has a charm unlike any other dolls’ house. From medieval manor to modern country retreat, you can style it as you choose. Its long and courtly dining room offers the new owners (perhaps a rock star in need of a rest?) a stunning setting to impress all their friends ‘up from the city’. Featuring two roof terraces and beautifully complemented by the East Wing, this dolls’ house offers five rooms over three floors, including the highest room in the tallest tower for all your fairy tale needs!
