A mini tale of murder, mafia and intrigue

We never cease to be amazed by the weird and wonderful creations that people make in miniature and Cynthia von Buhler’s Speakeasy Dollhouse is no exception.

Cynthia’s creation, which she intends to turn into a book and an immersive play, is a biographical tale told with handmade dolls and sets that recreate a historically accurate, prohibition-era New York City in the 1920s.  Prohibition is America was a period of illegal drinking dens, so-called speakeasies, and Cynthia’s Italian grandparents opened two such places in the Bronx district of New York.  One masqueraded as a bakery and the other was a secret nightclub where clients drank bootleg booze out of coffee cups and speakeasy liquor was secreted in table legs.

The incredibly elaborate sets Cynthia has made to tell the story of her grandfather’s unsolved murder include brick walls which have been sanded to look aged and even real mud on the cars to add authenticity.  You can discover much more and watch a video by following the link to Cynthia’s website:

Ocassionally something a bit creepy pops up in our reader here and we wonder what delight the internet has bought us this time. Recently we had were treated to this glow-in-the-dark zombie-filled dolls’ house. We’ll let Tony Jope’s creation speak for itself.

How to – Register to Vote!

No, we’re not talking about a general election here, we have noticed that there are a lot of folks trying to vote in the May the Best House Win competition at the moment so we thought a little help might be needed!

To vote in the competition you will need to register to join the forum. Once you have registered, your account will be manually moderated to ensure there are no spam accounts.*

  1.  Go to the Dolls House Emporium Forum home page – http://www.dollshouseforum.com/
  2. Click on Register which should take you to this page – http://www.dollshouseforum.com/register.php
  3. Enter your date of birth and click Register
  4. Tick the box next to I have read, and agree to abide by the The Dolls House Emporium Discussion Forum rules.
  5. Click Register.             
  6. Enter a password – this should be completely different to your usual Dolls House Emporium password and can be anything you want (as long as you can remember it)
  7. Enter your password again to confirm.
  8. Enter your email address and enter your email address again to confirm.
  9. Answer the Random question.
  10.  Click on Confirm Registration.

*We will also be limiting accounts on the same IP address as we have noted that some IP addresses were registering numerous accounts to vote for the same entry. This is not in the spirit of the competition and will not be permitted.
