Shhhh! Kreacher is lurking about!

Posted on August 19th, 2008 by Marie

A very dear friend of mine is making all of the character figures for this project and her first one was poor, miserable little Kreacher!  At only 3″ tall, he is the star of the show!

Isn’t he just the cutest?!

Let there be color!

Posted on August 18th, 2008 by Marie

Ok, now we’ve got the exterior painted most of the way.  I had to correct an error of mine with the top floor windows, so that is why they are not completely painted yet; I’m waiting for the glue to dry.

As you can see, the basement has also been attached.  I also changed the balcony design a bit so that it is all one piece like in the movie vs. in three different sections.  It is my goal, first and foremost, to follow the story description of Grimmauld Place as closely as possible.  I want my project to be as authentic as I can get it.

An Extra Floor

Posted on August 18th, 2008 by Marie

Here’s the dollhouse with the extra floor added and the majority of it primed and sealed:

Altering the kit like this has added over 10.5″ to its overall height.  Which means it towers over me by about 3 feet when I stand next to it!  Good thing for step stools.

Eaton Square becomes #12 Grimmauld Place

Posted on August 18th, 2008 by Marie

I’m a HUGE Harry Potter fan and have always wanted to do a Harry Potter themed project.  The Eaton Square kit presented me with an obvious choice…#12 Grimmauld Place from Movie 5 - The Order of the Phoenix!  Now we begin…..

This is the main house shell right out of the box and dry fit so that I can determine where I’m going to add an additional floor to increase its height.  As usual, this DHE kit fits together like a dream so far!  There are so many wonderful rooms in Grimmauld Place and it was too difficult to decide on just a few, so that is why I’ve decided to add an additional floor to the dollhouse; thus, giving me one extra choice.
