Let there be color!
Monday, August 18th, 2008Ok, now we’ve got the exterior painted most of the way. I had to correct an error of mine with the top floor windows, so that is why they are not completely painted yet; I’m waiting for the glue to dry.
As you can see, the basement has also been attached. I also changed the balcony design a bit so that it is all one piece like in the movie vs. in three different sections. It is my goal, first and foremost, to follow the story description of Grimmauld Place as closely as possible. I want my project to be as authentic as I can get it.
An Extra Floor
Monday, August 18th, 2008Eaton Square becomes #12 Grimmauld Place
Monday, August 18th, 2008I’m a HUGE Harry Potter fan and have always wanted to do a Harry Potter themed project. The Eaton Square kit presented me with an obvious choice…#12 Grimmauld Place from Movie 5 - The Order of the Phoenix! Now we begin…..
This is the main house shell right out of the box and dry fit so that I can determine where I’m going to add an additional floor to increase its height. As usual, this DHE kit fits together like a dream so far! There are so many wonderful rooms in Grimmauld Place and it was too difficult to decide on just a few, so that is why I’ve decided to add an additional floor to the dollhouse; thus, giving me one extra choice.
The Exterior Roof Brackets and Window
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008This is a view looking up at the roof brackets and one of the small windows. I replaced the window glass with a silver mesh (for reasons I won’t yet say because I don’t want to give away the element of surprise). I wanted more substantial brackets under the roof eave, so I created my own from scratch and then stained them the same color as the rest of the woodwork. So far so good. Soon, I’ll be adding a bit of age to the exterior and interior with a soft brown wash.
