The Basement Level

Here is the basement level where the kitchen is. This part is pretty much finished and ready for furnishings and accessories. A few flying brooms sit in the corner behind the stairs, freshly placed there after the Order’s timely rescue of Harry from the Dursley’s. The stone walls were made from cardboard egg cartons painted in shades of gray, slate blue, and tan. The stone floors are made from Creative Paperclay. There is more to the pictures than is shown above. Just click on them for a full view.

This is a shot of the entryway, just inside the front door, showing the troll leg umbrella stand that Tonks was notorious for tripping over.

New Interior Shot

Here is a sort of before and after shot of the interior. The basement level has been completed. Every room has now been wallpapered, and the flooring and ceilings done. All that is left are the mouldings.

The basement level is of course the kitchen with Kreachers boiler room, the first floor is the dining room, the second floor the drawing room, the third floor is Sirius’s bedroom (the walls have been covered with a grey silk just like in the book but the camera flash makes them look a lot lighter than they really are), and the fourth floor is the room that Harry, Ron and Hermione slept in. I haven’t yet decided what I’m going to do with the top floor yet.

The kitchen walls and ceiling are completely finished now and the room is now ready to receive its lighting fixtures, furniture and accessories…the FUN part!!

Grimmauld Place Kitchen

The kitchen in Grimmauld Place is starting to come to life. The stones on the walls are made from cardboard egg carton material that was painted, cut, and then glued on. The flooring tiles were made from Creative Paperclay. There’s still quite a ways to go!

The Completed Exterior

The exterior is pretty much finished now. One of these days, I’d like to put a nice ebony wood veneer on the bottom where it’s painted black, but until then, what I’ve done will work.

The Boiler Room

This is the room where Kreacher sleeps according to the book. I still have a long ways to go as far as the outside of the room. I put a red grain of wheat bulb inside out of sight to add a glow to the room without making the room too bright. I’ll add Kreachers bed and all the family items he nicked when the drawing room was being cleaned out.

The kitchen

This is the beginnings of the kitchen where most of the action at Grimmauld Place takes place. The part of the floor to the right where there are no stones is where the fireplace/stove will be. The stones were made from Creative Paperclay and painted with a dirty water wash.

Sirius Blacks bedroom

I stripped the wallpaper that I had originally put on this wall because after reading the book again, I found out that the walls in Sirius’s room were covered in a gray/silver silk. So, I ordered some silvery gray silk and put it up instead. I went over the silk with dirty fingers to ‘age’ the wall a bit. The rest of the walls in the room will be done in the same fashion. This wall section will look much more finished once I’ve put up the window trim, crown and baseboard.

The front door…

Here is the front door. True to the story, there is trash strewn about along the sidewalk and front steps. I may add a few more pieces of trash as I run across the right pieces, but for now this will do.
