The foyer and under the staircase

Foyer and staircase
I decided to enclose the underside of the staircase in the foyer as I wasn’t too happy with the cubby-hole type feel the stairs gave me. I just couldn’t think of anything to put under the stairs, so to me it was wasted space and needed some dressing up. So I built them up with walls, covered with wallpaper, and finished with baseboard. I’m much happier now and they look so much more realistic and finished.

Oh, and you’ll notice that the foyer floor is in a state of disarray at the moment. I “thought” I liked the tile pattern I had, but realized that I was mistaken. So, I’ve changed it a bit to look more vintage. The entire floor has a frame of black marble tile and inside that frame is a checkerboard of white and gray tile. I need more gray tile though because I ran out. There’s a better picture of this in the photo album section.
