Star of the screen as well as the page!

Whilst photographing their Alice In Wonderland inspired photo shoot with the cream of British talent, Company Magazine also filmed it, which means you get to see even more of the star of the show – our very own Montgomery Hall.

We predict a very bright future for this house.

The Dolls House Emporium helps Derren Brown to ‘Control the Nation’

Posted on September 21st, 2009 by louise

Orchard House and Mimosa Cottage made a guest appearance on last weeks ‘Controlling the Nation’, as Derren Brown attempted to predict which toy a lady would choose from Hamleys Toy Store.  Derren predicted right – she went for the giraffe.  Personally, we would have chosen the dolls’ house.

Miniature Mackintosh at 78 Derngate, Northampton

Posted on September 18th, 2009 by louise

A dolls’ house based on the designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh is being displayed at 78 Derngate, the Northampton house he designed.

Craftsmen at The Dolls House Emporium have used authentic Mackintosh designs to create a miniature house based on ‘The Hill House’ in Helensburgh, near Glasgow, designed by Mackintosh for publisher Walter W. Blackie.

The 1:12th scale model also features details like a front door based on that at Southpark Avenue, Glasgow, where Mackintosh and his wife once lived.

Alison Kay, Retail Manager at 78 Derngate Northampton Trust, said: “We are very excited about the Mackintosh House coming to 78 Derngate.  “It will be a fantastic addition to the collection and will give our visitors a real sense of the grandeur and originality of Mackintosh’s other work, albeit on a slightly smaller scale.”

Jackie Lee, Managing Director of The Dolls House Emporium said: “78 Derngate is an amazing time capsule and legacy to the talent of Charles Rennie Mackintosh – it is the perfect place in which to show our Mackintosh dolls’ house.”
