Are you planning a trip to the beautiful Isle of Wight this year? If so, then a visit to The Model Village on High Street in Godshill is a must. Whether you are a miniature enthusiast or not be prepared to be amazed and delighted!

The Model Village is a 1:10 scale model of Godshill, a quintessential English village, complete with thatched cottages; a stunning 15th Century church, from which the village takes its name; and lovely tea rooms and traditional pubs. There is also a model of Shanklin Old Village to complete the attraction.

You can start your tour by wandering around High Street, an exact miniature replica of the full-size High Street in Godshill, and marvel at the miniature Old Vicarage; the local pub, The Griffin; and the amazing All Saints Church – there is even a 1:1000 scale Model Village of the Model Village!

On the outskirts of the village is the Airfield, which has been designed in the style of the many small landing strips used in the 1920s and 1930s. The hangar building is modelled on one at Apse Heath, about two miles from Godshill. You will be able to see a number of visitors to the airfield including the RAF De Havilland “Tiger Moth”, used for pilot training and also for combat throughout the World War II, and a group of “Flying fleas” (Pou de Ciel) who are just about to take off!

The entire village is surrounded by beautiful greenery, with precision lawns and a collection of conifers and shrubs, which are all in proportion to the miniature buildings – it has taken 50 years to build up this green scenery.

After your tour of the miniature Godshill, you will find full-sized refreshments at the Nammet Hut, which sells a range of drinks and snacks.
