Did you see this dolls’ house on children’s TV?
Tuesday, March 13th, 2012Fans of CBeebies children’s programmes will have spotted our very own Wisteria House on TV last week!
It made an appearance on Grandpa In My Pocket, which stars James Bolam as a grandfather who can magically shrink down to get up to all sorts of adventures.
The show saw him seemingly dress up and dance inside Wisteria House in an episode that also starred Liza Goddard.
Elaine Malyon, from South Yorkshire, was first to spot it and wins £50 of Dolls House Emporium vouchers for letting us know.
Have YOU seen one of our dolls’ houses on television? Email competitionsecretary@dollshouse.com and tell us which house you saw, what it was on – and send us a photo or i-player link so we can see for ourselves and share it with our readers. You could be in for a £50 treat too!
This competition never closes and it’s first-come, first-served!
Here’s what you can win:

But we do need proof… so if it’s a billboard, for instance, take a photo and e-mail it or post it to us.
If you spot gold and it’s in a television show, either take a photo of your screen with the house in view or look it up on the i-player for whichever channel it’s on and send us the link. We’ll also need to know how many minutes into the show it appears!
TV ads are trickier but you might find a link at tellyads.com which you can forward on.
And here are the rules:
- We need you to identify which house you think it is.
- We need proof – either a photograph, an internet web address or a link to the iplayer or equivalent.
- We need to know how many minutes into the programme it is, if it’s a television claim.
- The prize is for the first person to spot one of our houses and contact us (competitionsecretary@dollshouse.com)
- Dolls House Emporium and toyshop adverts don’t count – we’re looking for appearances we didn’t know about!
- Employees of The Dolls House Emporium and anyone involved in the promotion and execution of this competition and their families are not eligible to enter.
- The Dolls House Emporium reserves the right to feature the winner in print or on our website, and to feature the winner’s name and home county in future promotions.
- Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these rules.
- No responsibility can be accepted for entries which are not received or delayed.
- The judges’ decision is final.
Dolls’ house miniatures on the BBC… have you spotted them yet?
Wednesday, December 21st, 2011If you’re sharp-eyed you might just have noticed some Dolls House Emporium goodies being shown off to great effect on the BBC every single day!
Where? When? Well it’s most evenings and is to do with the latest ident between shows – it’s the one they’ve put on instead of the hippos.
It ends with a scumptious cake and some exquisite dolls’ house miniatures.
Slow it down on your video, look closely and you’ll see “Mr Snowman” with his carrot nose and coal-black eyes (part no. 4939), the 11cm decorated Christmas trees, which come in pairs (4914), a Classic floor lamp with white shade and square base (2516) and the 20cm snowy pine trees (4902).
Of course, it also counted as an As Seen on Screen contest, and first to drop us a line with the pictures was Shellby Dutton, from Stickney in Lincolnshire, who wins £50 of Dolls House Emporium vouchers. Well done Shellby!
Keep ‘em peeled for anything else over the Christmas period everyone!
Maltese feature shows off Rebecca’s dolls’ house
Thursday, December 15th, 2011Our very own forum contributor Rebecca Micallef, who lives in Malta, was spotted in a local magazine there by our latest gift voucher winner!
There was also another good spot from Sue Cotter, who’s still house-hunting and snaffled another £20 by spotting a Classical in someone else’s house…
The winner of £50 in vouchers for noticing the magazine article and sending us a clipping is Jennifer Sammut.

She tells us: “I have just received it by post today it called in Maltese ‘Lehen il-Kunsill ta’ Marsaskala’ which means the Voice of Marsaskala’s Local Council.
“It’s not that common here in Malta to find dolls house articles!”
It was a feature on Rebecca’s entry of her Lake View for our May The Best House Win contest earlier this year.
Rebecca herself said: “I have participated in crafts exhibits myself in Marsaskala where I have exhibited some of my DHE dolls houses.
“As dolls houses is a taboo in Malta everyone was fascinated with my dolls houses and the Local Council of Marsaskala wanted to know about my works and the passion I have for dolls houses as it seems to be rare in Malta.
“They took some photos and the article just says what a lovely hobby building a dolls house could be.”
Her blog can be found at myminiatureworld.blogspot.com
Meanwhile Sue says: “Spotted this one last night, think its the Classical.
“You seriously would not believe how many estate listings have Dolls House Emporium houses in them, they are obviously the most popular.”
Bargain Hunt reveals a dolls’ house we used to know!
Wednesday, December 7th, 2011A good spot by one of our eagle-eyed customers, who noticed a familiar friend lurking in the sale room of Bargain Hunt late last week.
Chloe Labbett was watching the show filmed in Anglesey when she saw what looked like a Dolls House Emporium product.
It took some head-scratching at this end but we identified it as a “Traditional”, a model which ceased production more than ten years ago!
It’s nice to see one in such good condition and for her trouble, Chloe wins £50 of Dolls House Emporium gift vouchers.
And here’s a recap on the rules and prizes for when YOU see one of our houses where you wouldn’t expect it.
Please e-mail us at competitionsecretary@dollshouse.com as soon as you can send in a photo of the shop window, your TV screen or whatever – or e-mail a link to the i-player where we can check out your claim.
Remember that this competition never closes, we want to hear about all The Dolls House Emporium dolls’ houses you’ve spotted in unexpected places.
- Spotted in an estate agent window = £20 Gift Voucher for The Dolls House Emporium
- Advert in Print* = £25 Gift Voucher for The Dolls House Emporium
- Television advert/Magazine shoot = £50 Gift Voucher for The Dolls House Emporium
We will need the evidence!
So if it’s a billboard, take a picture and email it or post it to us, if it’s a TV advert you may be able to find a link to it on this website http://www.tellyads.com/ and then send us the link. Television show? Send us a link to the show so we can find the dolls’ house. If it’s a printed advert, cut it out and send it to us! You could win £50 to spend at your favourite dolls’ house and miniatures supplier.
Get spotting and good luck!

May The Best House Win? More prizes for readers!
Friday, November 25th, 2011We have another couple of Dolls House Emporium houses to show you, as seen on screen and spotted by our eagle-eyed customers.
The first was on the ITV show May The Best House Win, where the contestant had what we think is a Wentworth Court in her kitchen.
Katie Vince was the first to let us know – and here’s the proof:
She told us: “It was in the first contestant’s house. The dolls’ house was open the whole time but it is quite clearly a Dolls House Emporium house – it looks just like the Wentworth, I could tell by the windows and the stairs.”
We agree Katie, although the windows aren’t quite right, so we suspect it’s a previous incarnation of our current Wentworth.
Then there was another spot from an estate agency website, with this Classical Dolls House nestling in someone’s lounge!
It’s at a house not far from Dolls House HQ, down the road at Belper, in Derbyshire.
Sue Cotter, who found it, says: “I think this is The Classical standing in the background. As with all Dolls House Emporium houses they are unique and very distinctive, plus I have the classical myself so I should know it!”
Katie wins £50 of vouchers to spend at the Dolls House Emporium, while Sue has £25-worth.
