Well the entries have been quite literally flooding in this week and we are looking forward to pouring over them all in detail next week to chose our lucky winners. If you are still trying to finish your entry off, there’s no need to panic! You can email us on competitionsecretary@dollshouse.co.uk with you entry form and pictures and you will have up until 12noon on Monday 31st August to do so. The 31st is a Bank Holiday here in the UK, so for those of you sending your entries via email from abroad, don’t panic, we will still get them.

The Creative Competition for 2009 closes in a little over a week  so make sure you get your entries in before the deadline! The last day for entries is traditionally the 31st August, which this year happens to fall on a Bank Holiday so we’d recommend you get them on the 28th because we’d hate for you to miss out on the chance to win a Dolls House Emporium kit worth over £650!

The Summer House was introduced in March this year and has proven to be a very popular dolls’ house kit. (more…)

Have you entered our creative competition for 2009? Are you building up your little Summer House with your winning entry in mind?

Although we often see summer houses as a traditional British retreat, they are more international than we might at first think. In Japan, they have long been the preferred location to enjoy the traditional tea ceremony and believe it or not, a summer house was once the perfect place to cook crisps! Bill and Sallie Utz used their knowledge of good Pennsylvania Dutch cooking to make crisps in a small summer house behind their home in 1921!
